The EEOC just sued the New York Times for discrimination against white males. The intern class photos told the story years ago. And it’s not just one newsroom — it’s an entire industry.
If the University doesn't settle, which they won't because they can't, then yes. One lawsuit, if fought all the way to the top, can be enough.
In a sense, it's always and only enough. Plessy, Wickard, Korematsu, Brown, Roe... all were single cases. In another sense, it's never enough, as the law evolves. (As it should. It should just evolve much more slowly than everything else.)
So I’m looking at Trump’s Cabinet and district court nominees. Mostly White men. Must make you feel good knowing the universe has righted itself and a certain race and gender has come back on top.
That’s true. But the OP seems to have concerns in only one direction.
People like OP worry when they see a Black pilot, to use Charlie Kirk’s example. But they never worried about getting a third-rate White pilot hired only because airlines categorically refused to hire Black pilots—including ones trained in the armed forces — until the early 1970s.
You reference a period that was over 50 years ago. I don’t know you, but I am often amazed that people who might call themselves “progressive” often don’t see progress. I am sure you are aware of the 1964 civil rights act and the 1965 voting rights act. A lot has changed since the early 1970s.
The proverb “two wrongs don’t make a right” applies here. I like Thomas Sowell’s quote. “Affirmative action is racism under new management”
Professor this is nothing new, I have been on faculty hiring committees and as far back as 1998. On one committee the chairpersons took all the finalist vitas from white males snd threw them in the trash and said we are hiring a woman. On another committee later that that year the Department Chair told us only to interview Black candidate that the position was set aside for a black candidate. What starts in the halls of academia spreads to corporations. Welcome to Bozo World…..
It's fantastic to see. Unfortunately it's a single case and it's been 18 months since Republicans won the presidential election.
Is it remotely enough?

Or you and Trump could be bigots. Hard to tell.
Sorry, what? Is this an argument? Surely both can be objectionable.

A lot has changed, but looking at Trump’s cabinet and judicial nominations, I’m not sure how much.
SCOTUS just blew up the Voting Rights Act. Maybe the CRA is next.
I'm pretty sure all pilots trained before the early 1970s are long retired, lets focus on discrimination currently happening
How diverse is your neighborhood and do you own property?

Yes, I own property. Our home neighborhood is racially mixed, although not economically.
Bummer. Here’s their management team
